Periods while on metformin?

Ok so I have pretty regular cycles as in they differ by less than a week but I was recently prescribed metformin to treat an insulin resistance. I have been on it for just over a week and my period is 5 days late. Yeah ok maybe it's just late but usually by now I would have some signs of it coming but I am getting none? Has anyone else on the same med experienced similar??
