Period Late 8 Days

I've been off birth control about 2 years and have not gotten pregnant. I just started using this app in March and now it says that my period is late 8 days. I've had cramps the past 3 days as if I am going to get my period and nothing. I don't want to take a pregnancy test because I am tired of being disappointed.
