Parenting: Do you believe it's a necessity to have both a male and female parent in the household for a child to develop mentally healthy?

I personally grew up without my father because he passed away when I was two years old. I only had my mother, and she never remarried or had any boyfriends. I crave that male figure in my boyfriend, and it's so sad. I hold him to a higher standard because part of me pretends like he's my dad. Lmao. It's sick and I can't control it. But I think a lot of girls have that issue when they grow up without a father. I have grown up angry an angry child but I plan on being a doctor. So, I'm on edge when I'm asked if kids actually need a female & male figure in their lives.. I don't know. Part of me is totally normal & excelling and another part of me is "fucked up" because I am missing that male figure. What do you think about it (not me)?
