Is it nasty to burp or fart at the dinner table?

I ask this because my MIL does BOTH at the dinner table not just with me and the hubby around but also at family get together, at my baby shower, at christmas dinner, just if its there she lets it go.  We have spoken to her about it and she just thinks its funny.

If I did either of those my mom would knock me out lol it's super rude, if you can't hold back on either then get up and do somewhere else.

It is 100% considered rude. "Nasty" is a matter of personal opinion, tell her she's acting like she was raised in a barn and people find her behavior repulsive. It may be funny to her, but it isn't to the people around her she's making uncomfortable.

The only way it's polite to burp at the table is if she covers her mouth and tries to do it quietly. Otherwise, yes both are nasty 😷

In our family it's not. We all do it. But in bigger groups or with other people outside the family we pull it back.

My husband's aunt was like that too, but it turned out she had a recent weight loss surgery and it was a side effect. I'm not why it was and she explained it to but I don't fully understand how or why. If you MiL had a weight loss surgery it could be because of that and she can't help it. If she didn't then she should work on her manners

If someones doing it to be "funny" then no its not ok. If they have a medical condition and cant help it thats different
