Period talk might be TMI

So i was 5 days late before i started to spot which turned into light bleeding. But my af is always heavy the first 2 days. Ive gone through 2 pads that have been half full since monday, and then i just change when i shower etc. The only time i actually bleed or have blood present is when i pee. Otherwise like i said there isn't really anything there..is that normal after a late period? Or would it be possible to have breakthrough bleeding? I didn't have implantation bleeding but am just curious on what anyone else thinks. I took a test over the weekend and came back negative.
