Is this weird

My husband is on the quiet side, we both are. He has very few friends. Well one of his friends (a woman) keep in contact with his mom (my husbands mom) they talk on a weekly basis, text each other, private message each other. My husband haven't spoke with her in over a year just because, time flies I guess. Well the question is it weird for your mom to be close with your friend? It sorta pisses me off to be honest because my MIL rarely speaks to me....but she talks to this woman.
