Is the culture of India being appreciation in the western music industry or used for profit?
Images, symbols and ideas from India have regularly appeared within art-forms such as music videos, concerts, merchandise and costume in the western music industry (e.g. recently Coldplay’s ‘Hymn for the Weekend’ used India’s culture in making the music video). Is the use of India’s cultural images, symbols and ideas by western music artists and persons in the western music industry a form of embracing India’s culture or using it to make money from?
