Are baby registries pointless?

As a ftm, I decided to make one. I did things about the $20-30 price change with a couple items in the upper but not more than a $100. I'm sending out my invitations soon and will post my registry on my Facebook after. Now I'm thinking if people will even go off it. I'm grateful for anything I get but i feel like people will just buy clothes and cutesy baby stuff. Oh well worth a shot!

I'll always buy something from someone's registry then add something personal in there too. Always always always. I know a bunch of people don't though and it's kinda rude to me. Like "here is a bunch of shit that you didn't want or need but because I liked it you're getting it"

Ours is diapers. Everyone has told us they have bought us diapers and I'm like *facepalm* if you had bothered to look at the registry you would know we are cloth diapering.

I made one and don't think I got a single thing from it. Idk if that's just my jerk family or what but they just bought whatever they wanted so I pretty much just got a million onesies, 15 baby medical kits, hardly any diapers and a few blankets.

My shower isn't until next week, but I know quite a few things have been purchased off our registry. It helps because I know we're getting the exact monitor that we want, the exact mattress, all that good stuff.

I find them to be very helpful! Then you know what mom wants and needs for baby, and that way 7 people don't show up with the same gift. I've seen that happen, I think a registry is a must! Whenever I get pregnant, I will be doing cloth diapers, so I don't want people wasting money on disposables because I don't want them, so I'll have some cloth diapers/accessories on my list. I think that would be helpful to people
