Were you at all disappointed with the gender of your child?

Genuine question. For example did you get your hopes up for a certain gender or were you told the wrong gender on a scan etc? No bashing answers please 👍🏼

I have a special story specifically pertaining to this, actually. When I was pregnant, and we had our anatomy scan, we were told we were having a boy, even though throughout my entire pregnancy I just had a feeling it was a girl. When we were told boy, I was honestly very disappointed. My dream has always been to have a boy and then a girl, so I can't even explain the disappointment. I cried. But I got over it, and learned how much fun having a boy could be, through my friends son. I still had that nagging feeling of wanting a girl, but I said to myself "next time." The day came when I went into labor, and after not progressing after four hours, I was sent in for a c-section. When the doctors pulled my baby out, they were speechless, and then asked "You're sure you're having a boy?" My anesthesiologist pointed a mirror down at my beautiful little girl. I guess somehow her umbilical cord was in the way in just the right spot to fool us all. I cried, I was so happy. She's the biggest blessing I've ever experienced. 
So, in short, yes, I've experienced gender disappointment. And it's a completely valid feeling. It doesn't mean you love your child any less. It just means your life is supposed to go a different way than you planned, and it's okay to feel sad about it, as long as you realize you're going to love your child the same, no matter the gender.

I really wanted a girl after twin boys. We went through he'll trying to get pregnant and stay pregnant this time and I knew going in it wasn't likely to happen again, so when the tech told me "it's a boy" I broke down and cried. I struggled with the disappointment for almost a week till a friend said something to me about how it was such a disappointment we weren't getting our princess and then I suddenly and inexplicably became crazy protective of my littlest mancub and crazy defensive about his boy-ness. Ofc now that I have him I can't imagine not having my precious little man. But gender disappointment is a real thing and it can be hard to get past and people shouldn't be made to feel guilty about it.

Yes. My second I wanted a boy so bad. At our gender ultrasound she said it's a girl and I was just like oh. and sad for the rest of the day

I just had my second son and I would be a liar if I said  I wasn't disappointed when we first found out. Mostly just because he will more than likely be our last child since my SO has 2 kids from his previous marriage. This makes our 4th boy, so we both really did want a girl. But the disappointment only lasted for about a day and I couldn't be happier to have my baby boy. After 4 boys, idk if we would even know what to do with a girl anyway 😂.

I had my son 19 years ago. Obviously hw is grown but this time I wanted to experience a baby girl. Nope getting another boy...lol. I am so excited to meet him but I had my hopes up for a girl.

Just found out yesterday we are having a boy.  We havent told my SO parents yet but his mum has constantly been saying 'WE hope its a girl' etc (i never wanted a girl i always wanted a boy and i already have 2 boys) im so scared there gunna be disappointed.i feel kinda guilty because he is a boy like i wanted
