Questions regarding child support/visitation from non compliant father??

Okay, so I am a first time mom, I am 13 weeks and I, of course, am single.  The father of the baby is MIA and has been for this entire pregnancy.  He is claiming he wants nothing todo with the baby and wants to sign his rights over.  I am in TX and was wondering if anyone else went through this? Filed for child support? Paternity? And also I know child support payments allows him to custody, but I want to push for only supervised visitation. Any info or help will be appreciated!!! Thanks in advance!

And yes, you can 100% get child support if he signed over his rights. By law, the minor child has the right to be financially supported by both parents. The dad signed over HIS rights, not the child's rights.

I'm going through something very similar. CUSTODY/VISITATION AND CHILD SUPPORT ARE NOT LINKED. I used to think that child support=custody case. If he signs over his rights and you file for child support, if he decided he wanted custody/visitation, he has to take you to court for it and he probably wouldn't get it since he signed over his rights. The court would see that he already signed and while he is allowed to reassert his rights if he chooses even after signing his rights away, the court would not be very understanding or sympathetic toward him.
