Is my 3 week old eating too much?

Recently he goes through about 6 oz of formula within two hours. I feel like that's a lot. Is this normal?

Every child is different. I exclusively pump, my first born drank lots more than my 2nd baby. My LO is 5 months and drinks 5oz every 3 hours. In a day he drinks 20-25oz. I have read they are supposed to drink 40oz a day. So yep. Don't stress out.

I got so much crap about this when my baby was very young. I let him eat as much as he wanted. He let me know when he was done. Sometimes he wanted 2 oz and sometimes he wanted 6 oz. he rarely spit up and was happy. People told me all the time to only feed him a certain amount but my baby wasn't happy that way. I went with my instinct and fed him what he wanted and he is perfectly heathy and happy. In the end it is your baby do what you feel is right.

To me yes... My doctor said baby should only eat 1oz for every hour they wait especially formula. My daughter is 3 months and just started taking 3-4oz.

In my opinion I think he is over eating.. that much milk can stretch his tummy. My Dr recommended to feed 1.5 oz every hr.. is he that hungry to eat 6 oz in 2 hrs ??? Can you just confort him with holding him or do something else.. also is he throwing up or not ?

They told me to take his weight and multiply that by 2.5 and that's how many ounces a day they should get. So if he was  10 pounds he should be eating about 25 ounces a day.

It's fine if he's hungry feed it to him, he's probably having a growth spurt and wants more and more often. My son is a month old and he eats 3oz every two hours and sometimes he wants an extra ounce so I give it to him or I'll just nurse him he's been doing this for the last two weeks or so now. I was worried at first especially since he was spitting up a lot he had an appt yesterday doctor said he doesn't have reflux and that he's spit up happy whatever that means. He gained weight so everything is fine.
