Aunt Flo messing with baby's sleep?

Amanda
Our son has never been a great sleeper.  Up until he was about 6 months old, he'd sleep in 4 hour stretches. Since then, his sleep is anywhere from 6 hour stretches (a rarity) to 1-2 hour stretches and usually swings like a pendulum between long and short stretches as the month progresses.  He's 15 months old.
I. Am. Exhausted.
We have tried a billion different things to help with his sleep.  We've seen ENTs, pulmonologists, chiropractors, herbalists.  Made dietary modifications.  Propped up one side of his mattress. Have a bedtime routine on lockdown.  Used a humidifier, used an air purifier, made the room cooler, made the room warmer.
The only variable that seems to correlate with his sleep pattern is my menstrual cycle.  I still nurse him, but mostly just for comfort, and I do not believe he's hungry at night when he awakens (he only nurses for a moment before falling back to sleep and refuses a bottle then).  The only variable I can count on here then (aside from babies just being unpredictable babies) is that it's me.
Has anyone else experience this?? Are my hormones to blame? Have I just lost my damned mind finally?!
