Im 20 and engaged we dated 2 years off and been serious for the past two years and lately ive been thinking about our future and how it will work live i never have. Hes 5 years older and wants kids hes willing to wait but ive been feeling bad. He wants to take over his dad shops in our hometwn once he graduates, i on the other hand want to travel, and feel that my major wont get me a good carrer in my hometown. He loves to stay in and not go out for fun. I wish atleast once a month hed go out but nope im worried about how well make all these difference work, any advice

Sounds like you're in very different places in your life. If you're having doubts like this, it's only fair to both of you that you give them some careful thought.

You don't want to ignore them, get married, and then wake up angry and resentful one day because you never got to travel, really live up your 20s, or push your major to its limits before settling down.

I know plenty of people who have gotten married young and had great marriages, but personally, I am SOOOO glad I waited until I was 26 to get married. My early 20s were so much fun - I was crazy, and I travelled, and I was healthily selfish - and I never have to wonder what I missed out on by settling before I was ready.

This is why I don't think you should even consider getting married until after 25. You are a completely different person from 20-25. They are very different stages.

I think you are trying to change yourself to fit in with his palns because you don't want to lose the relationship. You will end up resenting him if you put off your dreams to live his life. Honestly I think you are entirely too young to be thinking about getting married particularly when you have so many goals pulling you in a different direction.

This was me five years ago. I was 22, he was too but I wanted to travel and see places and work somewhere amazing and he wanted to live in our hometown forever and had no desire to travel or see new places. We took a break while I moved to Alaska for an internship after college and I never went back! Best decision of my life! I grew up, became a self-sufficient adult and met an amazing man on the same page in life as me. We have been married two years and are expecting a baby. We spent the past two years traveling, bonding, adventuring, and building our future. We are both ready to settle in and raise a family. Expectations, desires, and wants all matter when finding a spouse. Do not give up on your dreams to make it work for someone else. Find yourself and find someone working on the same dream. You can do it!

I think you both have to be willing to make compromises if you want to make it work. He should be willing to go out with you sometimes; you should stay in with him sometimes. The hometown vs. elsewhere thing is tougher to compromise on, so you'll have to get creative. But neither of you should sacrifice everything for the other-- if that's what it comes down to, I'd reconsider the relationship.

I think you should consider putting off your wedding. You don't want to go into a marriage with doubts. If you get married and put aside what you want to do then you might end of resenting your husband and you don't want resentment to poison your marriage.
