Have you ever had to become a better person to win back your love?

When we met, I seemed like a spoiled princess. It was my laziness that drove him away. For ages now, I have been trying to prove to him that I can work hard, and I know that he is the one for me. He has stayed in contact with me, and never let me go. Has this ever worked for someone? I know the people should accept you for who you are, but I know that he is the one for me, and a lot about him also annoys me..I seriously just can't give up on him!
