"Foster kids are bound to turn out that way"

So I was at a play group today talking to some mums about our upbringings.

I said to them how I lived with my grandparents who were foster carers and so i met a lot of foster kids and one mum remarked "its a shame they will all grow up to be like their parents anyway" and went on to tell me "if a seed is planted in toxic soil it can only grow toxic fruit"

She then told me "Ha ha, lucky it didn't rub off on you! Being around those kids must of been tough!"

The thing she doesn't know is my parents were drug users and I was extremely neglected (hence why I lived with my grandparents)

But my question is: What do you think? Do you agree that most (if not all) of these kids will grow up to be 'toxic fruit' and be like their parents? Be honest.
