should I quit breastfeeding my 7 week old? 😫

For the past few days he has been latching for a few seconds and then he lets go and starts crying this happens over and over again until I give up and get him a bottle. I'm considering giving up on breastfeeding because if I pump I feel like I am ALWAYS either pumping or feeding him all day long since he eats every 2 hours most of the day, agh I will give it a few more days of BF and go from there 😓 any advise?

I actually started to exclusively pump because my LO wouldn't latch. It's not ideal but it is worth it! Join exclusive pumpers on Facebook and get support if that's the route you want.If you want to formula feed, it's okay momma! Being fed is what's important.

Have him checked for tongue and lip tie. If that's not it I'd get with a lactation consultant and discuss the issue and she can show you hands on how to fix it. He could also have developed a bottle preference.

Is the problem him latching on? It may help to hold your breast like a hamburger and squeeze it to where your nipple/areola is wider. Sometimes that's the only way I can get baby to latch

I exclusively pump and used formula as well for as long as I could because I wanted to see what my baby was taking in. So it was helpful to see how many oz. I would chat with doc to see what options are best. Now I use only formula and she does fine.

It's really up to you. Bf is hard and if you've done it for 7 weeks then that's really good. Any breastmilk is good. I pump mainly and it helps me not be so stressed out that way someone else can feed him and I can do what I need to around the house or to occupy our 6 yr old lol

I was having a similar problem he wouldn't latch so we got his tongue tie clipped.  Then he would only latch for a little and spit out my nipple and cry till he got his bottle. My lactation consultant said it was more "flow preference " the bottle I was using was slow flow but still faster than my nipple. So my LO was preferring the easier way to get food. We switched to a Dr. Brown premie nipple and he has been latching on way longer and without a problem.
