Copper IUD experience❓

I'm leaning toward copper IUD instead of the hormonal type. Can anyone share experience? I've heard it can make periods heavier initially... my flow has always been average so I am willing to (attempt to) brave that to skip the hormones. All this news about birth control causing depression in women... I think that was me on hormonal birth control when I started it 10+ years ago. I am done with hormones.
