Ovarian Cysts

My abdomen has been hurting for about a month, on and off. Last month I had three periods so I knew something was wrong. Saturday night I went out to eat with my boyfriend and my family. We were just sitting at the table eating, and I got that unbearable pain. I thought it would go away so I just shrugged it off. So we went home and I was getting ready for bed and it started hurting again. I told my boyfriend and he called my mother and they met my boyfriend and I at the hospital. They immediately got me started with morphine from an iv. I had a ct scan and they found a ovarian cyst that is 2 centimeters as well as pleural effusion which was just an accidental finding.I'm going to my family doctor tomorrow for an ultrasound. Could anyone tell me what to expect? Will I need surgery? Can the cyst leave permanent effects on me, like not being able to get pregnant? Thanks!
