How long did you ladies wait to have sex after it got put in!? My dr told me wait two weeks but I didn't even wait the six weeks after my daughter. Just seeing if it can happen now or when did you ladies do it?

If you have your IUD inserted during your period wait 24 hours.
If you have it inserted any other time during your cycle wait 7 days.

It depends on the IUD  and what concern you have in mind. For being protected from unwanted pregnancy, the copper IUD (paragard) is effective immediately and is even used as an emergency contraception. For hormonal IUDs (Morena, Skyla, Liletta, etc.) , it depends when in your cycle you had it inserted. If inserted on your period, it's effective immediately, if inserted any other time, many doctors say to wait two weeks to be protected from pregnancy.

The other concerns are damage to your body and expelling the IUD. Whichever IUD you get, the insertion is pretty rough on your cervix & uterus, so you want to be kind to your body. Also, IUDs are most likely to expel/dislodge within the first few days to 3 months after insertion so you'll want to be wary of that too.

I would advise waiting the 2 weeks!!! I had a paraguard inserted July 14th this year and i had sex 2 days after insertion (no one informed me about the 2 week rule) and i had really bad cramping. I ended up in the ER and they said that it had moved and had to be removed because it could damamge my uterus. Conclusion: I'm NOT trying to scare you i just want you to know the possibilities. I mean i have a paraguard now that I've had for 2 months and everything is dandy, so just weigh out the pros and cons 💕
