Is it ok for a woman to have a male best friend?

My colleagues and I were having a debate about women being in a relationship and having guy bestfriends.. is it a bad thing? I think not.

I think it is fine to have friends of the opposite sex when your in a relationship.  Your relationship has to have trust and you have to be faithful to it.  My husband and I have been together 8 years,  we each have our own friends of the opposite sex and we are both completely fine with it

Yes, they can. Just because you're in a relationship doesn't mean you can't have friends. It would be controlling to restrict friends to females only.

That's what i mean! I have this guy best friend who I work with.. we are extremely close. We always mess around, we're always snapchtting (I know such teens right?), and we always seem to call each other names.. I've been in the same relationship for 3 years come January, and everyone seems to be coming at my neck lately because I "glow" when we talk. My eyes "get real big" and I get the "brightest" grin on my face. Little do they know that in my relationship we allow each other to have friends of the opposite gender because we trust one another.. I just don't get what is exactly wrong with being playful with someone of the opposite sex without it being "flirty".

Imo it's not due to the laws of nature.. you can or they could develop feelings just because that is what happens with the opposite sex. Me and my fiance have opposite sex friends but we don't chat when the other isn't around. Some may think this is silly but i have in the past had feelings for my male friends and so has he.. soo just to be safe and make our relationship last we don't.

Yep, he was a brides man in my wedding, I was a grooms woman in his.  He and his wife are my daughter s god parents.
