Do you ask shop assistants to return no longer wanted items back to the shelf for you?

My friend was shopping and asked a shop assistant to return something back on the shelf that she no longer needed, apparently the worker looked at her in disgust. My friend feels 'it's part of their job'. Personally I wouldn't ask them to do it, I would put the item back myself, I think it's rude and someone else shouldn't have to clean up after me. I think it's okay if you are elderly or disabled but otherwise no, do it yourself. I'm interested to hear other opinions on this 🙂
