how much milk to leave?

I'm starting an orientation for a new job in January and I'll be gone from 8-5. My girl will be almost 15 weeks by then and I've been EBF. How much milk should I leave with her? I know now she should be eating about 1-1.5 oz per hour, but have you other moms found that to be enough for your lo's?

Answer

I leave 5 oz per feed for my son. I expect him to eat about every 2.5-3.5 hours, so if I was gone for 9 hours I would leave 15 just to be safe. But I feed him right before I leave and as soon as I get back, so he may not go through all of it. It's my first day back to work today, I fed my son at 9am and then his dad fed him at 12:30. I'll be home around 7, so if he isn't too hungry he might only go through 2 bottles. Is it possible for you to do a weighed feed so you can see how much your baby takes when they nurse? That's how I figured out how much my baby eats.
