Grandparents reaction???

Just want to know if anyone else has experienced this...
First-time soon-to-be grandmother (DH's mom) said some not-so-nice things when we told her we were expecting, such as "I was getting sick of waiting for a grandchild" and "I saw all my friends becoming grandmothers and thought 'why not me'"...
What she doesn't know is that it took us 2.5 very long and heartbreaking years to get pregnant, and only with the help of IVF. 
Honestly, since it's the first grandchild, I expected much more "joy" as opposed to this passive aggression. Both DH and I felt the sting of her words and even with subsequent conversations, have been disappointed and upset with her behavior. She's opted for a nagging and judgmental tone instead of a caring and concerned grandmother role...
Just can't understand why she would want to taint it??
Any psychologists out there with a diagnosis!!!?!

Call her on it and tell her to stop.

I am serious. You don't have to be mean but just gently and firmly tell her what she is doing and that you and hubby won't take part in conversations of that tone anymore.

My mother has a habit of being negative. And for years I put up with it and didn't say anything. But you have to learn to have a voice for yourself and soon to be child.

Now I tell her when she is being overly negative and to knock it off. And she stops. She might be upset for a little that I told her to stop but she gets over it and gets out of it.

my non-clynical diagnoses is that she is a bit of a bitch.  sorry! haha I'm afraid my MIL will be the same
 telling her tomorrow and she is soooo mean to me

I'm sure she would have reacted differently if she knew the struggle you and your husband went through to conceive this child. Some people are just very inconsiderate and thoughtless when it comes to speaking, especially if they have no idea of what someone has been through. Try not to let it bother you so much (I know, easier said than done). Maybe once you've cooled off, you can have a heart to heart with her and talk about your journey.
