Erg confused

So trying to get pregnant and i had sex the entire time i was fertile and then some. One day i started bleeding, but it was nothing like my normal period. It was on and off and more brownish then red and i had no cramps. Not to mention it was 9 days earlier than when i was supose to get my period... any ideas on whats going on?
