Mirena IUD

So I've been on this iud for almost 8 months now I wanna say I'm close to 9 now but anyways I was told that I'll eventually stop getting a period but I feel like this iud has made my period worse? I bleed longer then usual and it's no where near light I'm still kinda heavy just like I would be without the iud. Does anyone else have this problem? Will it stop eventually? I don't know 🤷🏻‍♀️ help!!
