I think I dislike my child

First things first...keep your sanctimonious bs to yourself! My son is 8 years old and he annoys the hell out me. He's sneaky, he lies, he steals...it's getting to be ridiculous. I tried going the verbal route...sitting him down, talking to him and explaining why something is wrong and encourage him to do better because I know he can. That never works, not even when he were younger. I tried spanking to no avail. I tried punishment, taking toys and electronics...didn't work. I'm really starting to dislike him. I love him but I'm starting not to like him very much because I know he knows better because he behaves a tad better when his dad is home from work. I try to do fun stuff with him...movie dates, arts and crafts, take him for ice cream and he still acts like a total a-hole. I have a 3 week old son and my patience is wearing thin with my 8 year old.
