question for vegans or vegetarians

Do you guys kill insects like ants or spiders? So this morning I woke up and had a bad case of ants. They were all over my counters and sink became I had left out some syrup. Anyways I started spraying them, and I felt bad. They were all fleeing for their lives, panicking. I had lifted up my kitchen towel and saw a ton of them under there. I was gonna spray them but walked away at let them have a chance to escape. I came back and killed the rest. Still felt bad. Anyways would you kill them? Do you feel like their lives are equal to an animals? If no, why not. Just curious
