ovarian cysts?

So had my first ultrasound and found a healthy little baby, but he also found 3 huge cysts on my left ovary.. two were about quarter size, and one was half dollar size. And they were all really close together. He said that it wasn't too serious, but that sounds so scary!! How are they caused? Anyone else find out something similar? 😬😬

I have one on my left ovary a little larger than a softball. So far my OB just monitors it and measures it regularly. They are very very common.

I only found out I had one when it ruptured and I ended up in the ER. It was excruciating pain when it happened, but then over a couple hours the pain subsided and became a dull ache. It went away after it ruptured. From then on I could kinda tell when I would have a cyst because I knew what that achy feeling was on my ovary. Usually they are not dangerous and will go away on their own. Sometimes they will rupture and cause pain, but then go away. In rare situations they may rupture or twist and cause serious complications. I would just say always get checked out immediately if you have sudden severe abdominal pain!

They found the same thing at my ultrasound. She said "have you been cramping?" And when I told her yes, she showed me the cysts and told me it was normal.

So if I feel like one is rupturing, should I go to ER? Is there anything that they really can do?
