What are some things I will need/want to have after I go home from the hospital? I see all these things for babies. But not for new moms. Also should I buy a nursing bra?

I just had my first in december and I totally overdid it with the hospital bag and postpartum supplies. I never got out of the hospital gown because I was scared to bleed on my pajamas.  They supplied all the stuff the baby needs besides some onsies.  Try to hoard the hospital mesh panties, pads, and Dermoplast and take it home with you.  Those mesh panties are amazing.

Here's what I used in the hospital:
2 comfy sleeping nursing bras
Toothbrush & toothpaste
Hairbrush
Deodorant
Shampoo and conditioner
Socks
Boppy pillow (if breastfeeding)
Going home outfit
2 baby onsies
1 baby swaddle

When I got home:
Always super overnight pads (purple ones)- I got 2 packs but went back for more, so I'd get like 4 packs.  Maybe get some smaller ones for when the flow decreases.  I was bleeding for like 4 weeks.
Dermoplast spray - I brought a good bit home from the hospital so I think I only used like 1 can I bought
Nursing pads - you will leak everywhere around day 4-5
Lanolin if breastfeeding - hospital will give u some but not much.  Use it after every feeding no matter what, you won't regret it!
Stool softener - I pooped around 6 days postpartum with a second degree tear and it didn't hurt, but I was taking those softeners from day one and I'm so glad.
Granny panties - for when you run out of mesh panties.  You want them big enough to hold the horrible huge pads.  And you don't want to worry about ruining them.  I got a 10 pack from target of Hanes. 
A big cup for water - I don't know why but I was always so thirsty! I also developed bad postpartum swelling so I was downing lemon water.

Stuff for baby at home:
Somewhere to sleep - we used her bassinet, swing, and bouncer from day 1- but that's it
Diapers
Wipes
A few bottles to try

That's it!! If you need anything else you can someone to the store.  I seriously over did it and spent so much on cute pajamas that I never wore.  I nested so bad and the second she came I didn't care anymore about everything else!

Take the disposable underwear from the hospital. I bought nursing tanks from H&M and still wear them 4 months pp. Nipple cream.

Most of the stuff you need for "down there care" you will get from the hospital. They will give you as much as you need there so just take some extra home with you.

The hospital will have a peri bottle for you. You squirt water on your vagina area as you'll be bleeding. I had a c section so it didn't hurt to wipe but I still used the bottle to help cleanse after urinating.

I took and wore nursing tanks I got from Amazon.

I got always Infinity overnight pads. They are very thin. They are a tad long but you get use to it. Doesn't feel like a diaper like the hospital pads and absorbs well.  I also bought underwear to wear at the hospital and at home. They were a great fit, not granny panties, comfortable and were cheap (Walmart). I wore the hospital underwear the first two days. They were okay but got bunchy around the legs.

Nipple balm if you plan on breast feeding and/or pumping.

I this this pretty much covers it! And take everything they give you at the hospital. Mine gave me mesh underwear, peri bottle, tucks pads, ice packs, pads, and dermoplast spray!! Ask for Colace right after birth if your doc doesn't prescribe it automatically.

The best 20 dollars spent was my medela sleep bra it's like a spots bra.  Don't wear wires .

Everyone always says the overnight pads... maybe I was the minority but I never needed them. By the time I left the hospital my bleeding had slowed enough that I was just using a thin regular pad. No need to wear an uncomfortable diaper if you don't have to! Have a variety pad sizes just in case. Definitely take the dermoplast from the hospital or buy some if they don't provide it. The peri bottle is a must.. I think I used mine for a couple weeks. Stool softeners are also a must. I went the morning before we left the hospital and thought I was in the clear... then went home and got super backed up... not good 😩 And if you are nursing then yes a nursing bra is a good idea. And I lived in yoga pants for the first couple weeks. I preferred tight over loose clothing... felt like it held everything together better haha.

I'm living in my nursing bras and sweatpants. I have 4 of each so I can wash and rotate. Also, have lots of comfy panties ready, as you never know if you might end up with a cesarean and you don't want anything near your incision line. Lots and lots of overnight pads (I just stopped bleeding at nearly 9 weeks PP). Lanolin for your nipples. Water bottle to keep near you. Stool softeners - take them religiously!

Mesh underwear from the hospital and/or non-bikini underwear. I had a c-section and all of my bikini cut undies rubbed right at my incision. I bought some high waisted undies from Kindred Bravely on Amazon. Super cute and comfy.
