My mil always tells me "you look pretty with makeup on"

My mil doesn't complement me very much, but when she does, she says things like, "you look pretty with makeup on" or "you're lucky to have my son as your husband" and it just comes off as well snarky to me and weird. Why can't I just look pretty? Why can't we both be lucky? She is always telling my brother in laws girlfriend how beautiful she is and how she's so happy her other son has such a wonderful girlfriend. I know it seems trivial, but I have been a part of the family for 6 years and she has only been around for a few months. She has already complemented her and invited her to do things more in the few months that she has known her, than she has for me in 6 years. I just wish I had a good relationship with her. I've tried so hard and I just don't know what she has against me. I've always been so sweet to her. :/ she also tells me and my husband that we shouldn't have kids right now and I just want to tell her that's none of her business. My husband has talked to her about these things, but she plays stupid around him and is only nice to me when he is around. She's extremely rude to me when it's just me in the room. Idk what I did to deserve it. She is the only person we haven't told about our 2 years of struggling with infertility because she is so judgemental and she wonders why we don't visit very much.. 🙄
