Do you have to pump to exclusively breastfed?

I haven't pumped in about a week but making what is needed for my son. I'm not as engorged but when my milk comes in he drains both breasts and sometimes one. He is gaining weight and his diapers are great. I was told to ebf I'd have to pump to keep my supply up. Is this true?I also feed on demand too.

No, baby will regulate your supply by feeding on demand. Pumping is really only necessary if you're going to be away from baby during a feeding.

I barely did and only when my daughter started sleeping long stretches at night to make my boobs more comfortable 🙈 I had plenty of milk :)

No you don't have to but it means you can't leave your kid for very long..ever. if you get sick and supply drops for any reason you would need to supplement. .pumping is insurance. My deep freeze is insurance. .

Well you dont have to pump, but you should and store some. That way when you need to go out you have a supply to give whomever is babysitting/ watching your kid. If you have a SO you can pump and take a nap and he would be able to feed the baby while you rest. At least that is what I did and I got several hours of continuous sleep when my son was a a few weeks old. With PPD and lack of sleep I was in a rough spot, pumping helped me provide food for my son while he was taken care by husband. On a good day, when my hubby came home he watched the baby from 6-12 pm and I slept until around 2am when I was on 2 hour or 1 hour cluster  feedings. It was a big help for my sanity.

I feel like if he is eating and pooping you are fine. I just started pumping a couple times a day and I feed on demand. I pump so my SO can feed him a bottle at night to bond. My boobs are only engorged at night because he sleeps for three hour stretches at night so I'm literally dripping milk when he wakes me up to eat. Anyways lol Ive heard as long as you get at least 6 good feeds in a day your milk supply will be fine.
