Who is right?

We moved about 4 hours away from family and friends around 8 years ago. We have some friends in town for a conference that we've known FOREVER (he actually introduced us so definitely mutual friends). We also have an 11 mo old (full term, breastfed, no health issues). My friend texted me earlier this week to say her 5 yo was diagnosed with the flu. Fast forward 4 days and no one else had any symptoms. We were going to meet for dinner at a restaurant....just the couple (their kids stayed home). But my husband cancelled saying we couldn't risk flu exposure with a known case. I said he was being unreasonable and I would rather be around someone that disclosed that than the people we come in contact with at church or the grocery store that DON'T tell you when they're sick. We ended up staying home. Who was right? What would you do?
