Parents, has your cat ever scratched your baby's face? what did you do?

My cat scratched my daughters face really badly :( I dabbed it with a warm cloth first and when she slept I put antiseptic ointment on her. I feel horrible that I couldn't get to her in time before he scratched her, I literally just pulled her away just a minute before too. 😭😭

The scratch is on her face and he got her with 5 nails, 1 over her eye to cheek. Thank goodness it didn't get her in the eye. Her first birthday was yesterday and this had to happen :(

Buy caps for the cats nails moving forward. They glue on. They are not difficult and will keep the scratches away. No, my cat hasn't scratched my kids, but we used caps so it's never an issue

Oh no. I hope it doesn't scar. Poor baby. 
I would put a lot of A&D ointment on it or something similar so that it doesn't scab. Also, you probably want to keep mittens on your baby so that he/she doesn't irritate the scratch.

As for the cat, I'm a total animal lover but you have to draw the line somewhere and this scratch sounds bad enough to me that the cat needs to be removed from the household. The cat can either be given away to someone or you can make it an outdoors only cat.

My oldest daughter was scratched in the face by a foster cat we had when she was seven months old. Best visual I can give is that it looked like the scar on Scar's face in Lion King, pretty fitting as my daughter's name is Kiara, from Lion King 2. My daughter is about to be seven and has no memory of it, no fear of cats, and no scar at all. Just keep it clean and everything should be fine. I'm glad that you aren't getting rid of the cat because of this.

It's hard to get a good picture but this is how her scratches are, only the top two bled but they stopped. I'll get A&D ointment! Thanks!

I'd suggest soft paws. They glue on & fall off when the nail grows. If you have trouble trimming your cats paws & putting them on most groomers & some vets will do it for you. That way even if an accident happened again he couldn't hurt her. You can even put them on the call paws, too. Just make sure he doesn't go outside if you do that.
