Is Sex Trafficking A Form of Slavery?

25 girls from the D.C. area have been reported as missing since February and sex trafficking is an idea as to what's happening. I feel as if we all have this idea that slavery only comes in the form of race...I say that's wrong. This is a huge problem and we have got to stop being blind to it! Do you believe sex trafficking is a form of slavery? How do you propose we put a stop to it??? This is incredibly sad to me!!!

The way to stop it is to educate yourself! Know the signs of those being trafficked. Educate your children and your family. I honestly had no idea how big it really was in my area until I went to a conference on it. Be aware of what's going on around you! It's so scary how easily one can be trapped into it.

I imagine if you are thinking of slavery only in terms of the things we study in school as part of American history then sure, first instinct is race... but the idea of slavery (that one person can own another) goes back to probably the beginning of time. People have been and still are slaves in relation to religion, country of origin, race, gender.. it's horrible no matter who it is happening to.

Human slavery is different than the transatlantic slavery (aka the African American slave trade). Human trafficking is still going on to this day. It affects women more than men. It affects every continent in the world. It's insane & needs to be stopped!
