Cervical check opinions

Okay so I had my cervix checked last week and my cervix was soft but I wasn't dialated at all. So now I have another appointment today and I don't even know if I want my cervix checked for anxiety of disappointment if I'm still not dialated at all. Has anyone chose not to be checked and been more at ease just waiting then knowing you were dialated and hadn't gone into labor?
