How important is cleanliness in a hotel to you?

Just curious after looking at hotel reviews in my area. A lot of inns were ranked badly for having roaches, bed bugs, bloodstains, etc, but a lot of people also said that they didn't mind the bugs/blood as it was cheap and "did the job for a night". So, how important is cleanliness to you?
