maiden name disappear after legal change?

Hi all,
I am getting married in a few weeks And I am taking my fiancé' last name. I started to think about how I'll change my name with social security and work....

Then I wondered what happens to my maiden name after the change.....Does social security erase it from my being associated with my SSN?? Can I never use it officially again?

There will be records that tie your maiden name (social security number being one) to you still. You'll have the same SSN.

Your maiden name is not "erased" but once you legally change your name, you must use your new name for everything. If you want to keep your maiden name, make it your middle name. Lots of people do that

You can actually legally keep things in your maiden name even after you are married. The name will always be yours.
