Baby Scarlett's story sorry it's a bit long
Yay it's time to right my birth story.
So I'll start at kind of the beginning or at least what I thought was. Tuesday April 25th I started having contractions nothing strong just light period cramps ( different from my Braxton hicks) they start at 2pm but I didn't pay them much attention until late that night they were 3-5 minutes apart lasting around 30 seconds so I call labor and delivery to see when we should come in and they said to wait for them to get closer. So I decided just to sleep some, but little did I know they never would for over a week. Fast forward to May 3rd 9 am I start feeling stronger contractions 2-5 minutes apart lasting around a minute now after no change for the week. I call my husband and he comes home and we head to the hospital. They check me I'm only 1 cm. That was really crushing, I thought I'd at least be a 3. So home we went and he went back to work.
When I got home I decided to nap since I've been up for a while timing contractions. Throughout the day I did laps on the stairs and lunges hoping maybe it would move everything along but not with much faith. My two year old and I danced and played a lot as well. Took a couple naps and drank a ton of water. And when my husband came home from work I talked him into taking our dog to the dog park for a short walk. The whole time I had consistent contractions every now and then they got stronger but I didn't expect anything really for the next day or so. But at bed time they got a lot stronger. I tried laying down but it almost made them worse. So I started timing them again. 2-4 min and 60 sec. I decided to wake up my husband and just have us go in I didn't care if we were sent home again.
We get there at about 1am and they check me and to every ones surprise I'm at a 7. ( mean while I've been quietly working through the pain) So away they go with questions and paper work signing and moving me to a labor room. I ask for and epidural and the nurses tease and try to encourage me that I don't need it (Not pushy or disrespectful at all they were wonderful. I was the only one there at the time so they had plenty of time for care) after 45 minutes or so the anesthesiologist comes and talks me through everything and warns me it may not kicking in time do to me already being 8 cm. But it did and was amazing. Some where around 4 am they check again I'm at a 9 and they decide to brake my water. Not long after that they decide to have me do a couple practice pushes and I'm ready. (I go to a teaching doctors office so my doctor is a first-year student and she has attendings watching over her )As my doctors are gowning and gloving the nurse sets me up, and the attendings are on their way. They have me start pushing. Well it didn't take much two pushes and she was out. When they told me to stop pushing it took me a second cause I was ready to go a couple more times thought it would take more. The attending hadn't even made it to the room yet. They bring her up to put her on my chest But they realized that the cord was wrapped around your neck twice so they quickly unwrapped it and put it back on my chest. That is definitely one of the best moments ever. My husband almost didn't even have time to get up to cut the cord everything just went so quickly. I had some tearing but nothing too bad.
