Does breastfeeding make baby fussy all the time?

I'm a ftm and I have a 5 week old and I was wondering if her being breastfed has anything to do with her being so fussy all of the time? Her dad and I just started supplementing with formula and I have heard that breastfed babies are more attached and tend to be cranky. Do you all think this is true?

I have a high needs baby. Formula or not she'd be that way. I believe it's all temperament and not the feeding method. Only way a feeding method could cause a cranky baby would be in the case of an allergy or not being fed enough.

I do t think breastfed babies are more fussy. I think I depends on your baby.

My baby breastfeeds for comfort as well as food so when she was small she did cry for me to feed her all the time but that's just the way she is. She is 9 months now and she will still have a snack if she is feel tired/scared/over excited or just bored.

I think it might just depend on the baby. I breastfeed my son and he's not a fussy baby at all. But I know another mama who switched her baby to formula and it really helped so it all depends.

I'd argue the opposite is true... when you're breastfeeding you have a built in baby soothing device... when my baby was a newborn she barely cried because I followed her hunger cues and also when she started to fuss and I knew she had a clean diaper I just put her on the boob... magic!

My daughter was kind of colicky the first two months. Fussy at night for no apparent reason. She outgrew it thankfully. Hang in there!

It's possible that your diet has something she is allergic to or that is making her tummy upset. If you feel she is calmer when you supplement and you are comfortable doing it, try for a few days and see how it goes. Then try bringing back breastfeeding on a very strict, bland diet with nothing spicy, no vitamins, no common allergens... slowly work those things back in one by one and see how it goes.

I exclusively BF and my 4 month old and he is very rarely cranky. If he gets fussy he's usually gassy or tired.

No. My baby is 13 weeks and is not nor has ever been a fussy baby. Im even back working and shes still breastfed and fine when im away
