disapproval of interracial dating

I have a guy best friend which so happens to be black. We've gotten very close and have ended up catching feelings for each other. My family highly dislikes interracial relationships, in fact they dislike them so much so that my grandma doesn't even want me talking to this boy as my friend. I do like him quite a bit, and he does the same but I know good and well my family isn't okay with us dating. What should I do? I could go without dating him I suppose but it just all feels right.
