8dpo, old frer tests, too early?

I am now 9dpo and took one of the old frer, non curved tests yesterday at 8dpo. It looked pretty negative. I have a FR digital that I have yet to use but will the day my period is due on Sunday. Was is too early to test? I've seen a lot of people that have gotten even faint bfps 8-9 dpo. I had sex 3 days before o and a day before, I hope theres a lil bean!
