Do you think dash cams should be a legal requirement?

Question is pretty simple!

I think they should, they stop scammers like 'crash for cash', help police and insurers, can view other accidents or even on street crime, can help an individual feel safer.

However, as they cost money which some might not be able to afford there would need to be something in place where you either get a basic camera free with your insurance or your insurance premiums drop a little.

But it would be interesting to see insurance companies offer a discount for drivers who have them.

I feel like someone would just have an easier time finding out where someone is and what someone does every day. Cameras can be hacked. 
Call me paranoid, but I think they could be abused. 
Also, it wouldn't be fair to make everyone buy one/maintain one.

No. I think it would be great if insurance companies wanted to offer a discount for them, but I am hesitant to make it a legal mandate.

I can see the good and the bad aspects of it. So, I'm more on the fence; but I do believe that insurance companies should make it mandatory for all drivers that are prone to have accidents more because of their recklessness. If the purpose was only for good things then yes, but unfortunately these things can be hacked and that makes me weary.

Yes. We had to buy one for each of our cars after a driver paying more attention to their phone ended up on the wrong side of the road and almost head on into my partners car. Driver only swerved because my partner held down the horn, took all the side mirror off instead and kept driving at speed. Police couldn't do anything as it happened too quick to get a reg plate. If we'd had a dash cam we could have put it through the insurance properly.

Dash cams and body cams. That go to a 3rd party gov/secure source where the department has to go through a judge to get access to the feed
