Sleep training and Sleep Consultant hired
Though I would share my experience. I hired a sleep consultant to help us as my husband did not want to sleep train my daughter it was always next month ,next week and on on and I kept delaying I have to own my part I should have just said we are doing it.
My daughter will be 1 years old in just over a week. Waiting too long makes it so much harder as they stand and cry and fall over and it's heart breaking
We are at Night 8 and Day 7. My almost 1 year old is putting up quite the fight still with naps BUT she finally slept threw the night last night for 10 hours in her crib. Hooray
For night time we stay in the room in a chair that we move farther away as we progress and I am barely interacting with her now she is starting to put herself to sleep in less than an hour.
The guilt has been horrible I enabled her to sleep like this all this time ( she protested so much in the beginning and then my mom died and I just lost the will to keep trying to put her down for naps and deal with the tears. And she would not sleep in her bassinet except for the first night home from hospital. She cried and cried.
She has been bed sharing with us at night and napping only on my lap breast feeding on the pillow since 3 months old. Some major sleep crutches to change. It's been rough I almost quit every day. Teething was a nightmare the last three days and the first 5 days people were setting off fireworks although it should have only been July 1 Canada Day and July 4 I had neighbours lighting then every night for 5 nights.
I am Canadian and used the Wee sleep company my consultant is good but she has a full time job and only does this on the side so sometimes I needed quicker replies to emails for advise went unanswered most of the day or a few hours too late.
This has been one of the hardest things. I have beat myself up a million times both for not changing things sooner and for the actual sleep training itself so please no nasty replies or lectures about sleep training. My daughter has been sleeping poorly with us for 6 months waking up every 2 hours and sometimes hourly to comfort nurse. She recently started rolling around so quickly and all over the bed In every direction and I was also concerned for her safety and we don't have room to put a mattress on the floor and store our bed frame, box spring I am parked on the couch for naps and can never get anything done or do much activity programs because of her schedule. She was also going to bed later and later like 1130 - midnight things had to change. I taking some more time off from work to stay home.
So my advice if you are going to do it don't wait until they are almost 1. And if you have the cash and want the help a consultant is good lots of emails check in calls and sending them tracking every day helps keep you on track she has heard me cry swear vent about my husband coming home from work and making noise and trying not to ring his neck after spending 3 hours getting her to sleep.
If you don't need the help and you had an easy time that's great. Lol wish us luck looks like she finally gave into her nap in her crib as I typed this out ! Hooray baby girl
Good luck mommas Stay strong.
