When should we tell my parents we're pregnant?!

We're going out tomorrow night for my birthday dinner with my parents. I want to tell them but I'd love to have an ultrasound to show. Our first appointment isn't until Wednesday which is the day after my birthday. So when do you think we should tell them? Wait for an ultrasound or tell them at dinner?

To add-- I'm a FTM and this is the first grandbaby. As soon as our family knew it was waiting to tell other people, waiting to tell a gender, waiting to tell a name, etc. It was nice to have it just to us for a little bit because there's not much control after that.

If something went wrong, would you tell them anyway? We told our parents right away, even before the ultrasound because we figured we may as well share the joy!! Congratulations!!

We ended up waiting until 12 weeks to tell my in laws. I told my parents after we saw the heartbeat for the first time. My in laws are very pushy, so I wanted to make sure that everything is good before we told them because I rather not tell them I had a miscarriage. It is totally up to you. My sister in law told the whole family before she went to the doctor and everything was fine.
