Insulin shot and side effects?

Hello I was diagnosed with GD last week and over the week I can't keep my blood sugar below 130 and always get higher rate in the morning 😞 no matter how much diet I do. My doctor recommended to take the insulin shot to my hormones in the morning. How and where do you take the shot and any side affects??? I'm afraid of needles and worried any side effects.

In all honesty, I feel better and have less side effects on the shots of insulin than I did with the pills. I hated the pills.

I have GD and have to take 5 insulin shots a day . I do them in my legs (thighs) and barley feel them and no side effects . You need to do what is best for you and your little one , no matter how uncomfortable it may be .

Giving myself insulin was less painful than taking my blood with the meter!! Just be after of blood sugar lows, they are the worst.. bring snacks wherever you go!

The pills have not been studied in pregnancy the way the insulin has. The insulin in pregnancy has been around forever and the best form of care for GD. I was scared at first too but you get used to it.

my clinic didnt offer the pills went straight to insulin shots twice a day mixing tow different insulins together.

No that's why I'm hesitant to say yes I wanted to research about it and if there's a pills I can take before the shot.

Side effects: insulin, especially if you take high doses, will cause you to gain weight! No one likes to tell you that but it is true. 
2nd: Insulin can slow down the development of the babies lungs. It actually interferes. The more insulin equates a higher chance. Also why they want you to go full term.

Tell him you would like to try metformin or the other medicine b4 you go that route... also after lunch and dinner try walking for 10-15 minutes.,,
