Baby girl hygiene

I was wondering what other moms did as far as caring for a baby girls private area during bath time... I was told not to really mess with it, since the vagina is self cleaning?? Lately I havent really done anything besides when shes poops i wipe top to bottom to make sure no poop is in her private area. As far as bath time, i just let the water run down, I dont really get in there and wipe or clean it. Am I doing this right???
