Meconium?

Question

I know that poopy diapers from EBF babies can go straight in the wash but what about their first meconium diapers? Should I use disposables the first couple of days? Or at least a disposable liner? Or does meconium come out in the wash pretty easily? Also, someone recommended slathering coconut oil on the baby to keep the meconium from sticking. Is that a no-no for cloth diapers or is it ok? Thanks!

Meconium is perfectly safe to go in the washer. Just like ebf poop, it's water soluble. If you get stains, just let the clean wet diaper sit in the Sun for a few hours and it'll naturally bleach it out. Also, if you plan to cloth from birth, you do not have to wait until the umbilical cord falls off. Like disposables, many newborn cloth diapers have an umbilical snap down option.

I just put everything in the wash after I got out of the hospital I was in there for about 5 days though
