Epidural, Yes or no?

I'm suppose to be going to my epidural interview, here in the next couple days and I'm kinda having mixed feelings about whether or not I should get it. Please share your experiences in the comments 💕

My goal was to not get it, but I also wanted to go with the flow and not have too many expectations of labor. I went 10 hours without it. Honestly, the contractions were definitely not fun, but manageable up until my water broke, then ish got real! Holy cow! They got so painful and frequent that I was throwing up with just about everything contraction and I want getting much if any breaks between them. At this point, I decided to get the epidural. 🙌 best decision ever!!! It didn't hurt at all because the anesthesiologist numbed the area prior to putting it in. Once I got it, I literally slept through the next four hours of labor!!! It was UH-MAY-ZING!!! They woke me up when it was time to be checked. A couple more hours and it was time to start pushing. The doctor turned it off so that I could better feel where I was pushing. I wasn't completely numb, but still had a enough of the epidural left over to where I wasn't dying either. My son was born with no issues and I have no complications as a result of the epidural. I'm currently 18 weeks and plan on getting one again.

I feel like it should always be an option on your mind, you don't have to go in automatically expecting one, but kinda think of it as a just incase, like if you're in labor and feel like you'll be fine without it, then just go without. But it is always an option for you to get, unless you wait too long to decide 🤷🏼‍♀️

You don't have to decide yes or no tomorrow, they just inform you of how it's done, risks etc. They do that because in the midst of labor it's hard to go over these things, so they do it ahead of time just in case you decide you want one.  You can see how you do during labor and request one if the pain is too much. I had one all 3 of my births and dont regret it.

I ended up having one after being in labor for about 24 hours, it was amazing. I was able to sleep for a few hours which relaxed my body enough to dilate the rest of the way. My intention was just to go as far as I could without any pain management help but to know it was there if I wanted it. I'd say don't change your plans but it's nice to know what it is and how it works if you decide you want it. I was in labor for 37 hours, as much as I'd like to say I could do the whole thing without I was so relieved to have it.

Ps I've had 1 epidural and 2 spinals. I'm prone to have headaches and I didn't have a problem of any kind with any of mine. Good luck!!

I agree about being open minded! I wasn't going to have one. But once they had to start pitocin and then had to up it, I had to have one. A lot of women loosen up and start to dilate after having one. I believe as intense as my contractions had become that I would have stayed clenched. 😳

I'm a ftm and my goal is to not get an epidural and go as natural as can be until I can no longer fathom the pain. If I do want pain mess I'll more than likely go with the gas just to reduce the pain. I've heard too many stories where women have constant back pain for life where they received their epidural and I don't wanna start dealing with that in my early 20's

I'd go into it open minded. Nothing about child birth is predictable. You never know what could happen... 
I had an epidural.. it was my plan the whole time. However, I was aware for example of the possibility of getting to the hospital too late and not being able to get one or other complications!
I'm happy I got an epidural and I had a great experience but it's honestly just about whatever you want your experience to be like.
