A guy asked me out?! 😬😳

So I met this guy like a week ago in college he's 19 and I'm 18. So he messaged me then we've been talking for 5 days. Five days.

Then suddenly he asked me, "would you go out with me?"

and I thought go out as in hanging out like grab a coffee or something. When this happens I was out of town. So I said, "sure of course!"

then he replied, "so we're going out now?"

Me: (what i'm out of town?) "Wait what do you mean by going out?"

Him: "Like boyfriend and girlfriend?"

Me: "What? I thought like a date. Why would you date someone you barely know."

Him: "Because I like you."

Me: "You don't even know my personality or if you'd like me for real"

Him: "We can learn about each other while we're dating"

Me: "That's like being committed to a stranger."

Him: "Not really. I can manage that."

Me: "Can you stay loyal to someone you don't exactly know?"

Him: "I can be loyal to you it's not that hard."

Is this normal? Dude is so weird no guy has ever asked me out this fast. Why can't he be like a normal person who'd get to know me first then ask me out after a while?
