Am I the only mama out there that does not want my baby on social media.. I am already regretting the few photos I allowed close family members to post.. Should I ask them to take them down.. or leave them be just not let anymore float the web?!

I can not be the only one who does not want my child on social media.. I just dont know what I should do.. with the few photos already floating on them. I know taking them down doesnt "delete" them from the internet but at least they arent on there anymore for any new faces to see. anyone with advice how to deal with family members who does not listen to you about no posting anymore? (I am also struggling with no more posting or with my persmission.) btw my husband and I are not big into social media..

This is a really great opportunity to practice relinquishing control.
Pictures of your kid will- inevitably, and increasingly- appear online.  You won't be able to do anything about that, especially as they get older and have more friends and play dates and events that get documented in various places by other people.  You won't even KNOW about most of them.
But .... then again, it's not too bad.  After all- pictures of everyone are online.  It's just a fact of modern life.  You can't possibly win; so you may as well practice Zen.
I mean- what are we worried about, really?  The pictures won't haunt your kids futures - assuming there is nothing inappropriate or risqué going on.  Employers won't not hire them because they bounced on a trampoline once at a birthday party.  
Nobody's gonna see the photos and decide to drive over and kidnap them - like 99.999% of all kidnappings are custody fights gone astray.    
Maybe some day there will be face recognition technology that allows the government to geo-locate your adult child..... but truthfully- the government will locate your kid if it wants to.  Regardless of whether you post baby pics on Facebook. 
I think you can breathe easy that this is one particular case where your inability to control things will not negatively impact your kid.
There will be a lot of things that happen in your kids life that you do not approve of and can't control.  A lot of them may actually BE harmful in a measurable way.  Those will be much harder to relinquish than this one.

me and my boyfriend dont wnat any pictures on social media either. i just informed people when he was born and the few people who didnt listen were askes to remove them. i dont think its wierd at all.

Only my husband and I are allowed to post photos on social media of our baby and no one is allowed to share. We have a lot of family and friends who live all over the world so it easiest for everyone to see them that way. Also, we know who all of our friends are and have strict privacy settings so we know who can see them or not. I don't think your being unreasonable at all. Your baby, your rules.

I think it's up to you. You're the mum. I personally don't feel strongly about this issue but if you do, I think you have every right to ask them politely to take them down. It doesn't have to lead to an argument.
